Lichs are immortal humans who have sealed away their souls to prevent them from passing on to the Afterworld . A Lich’s soul is stored in some artifact or container, and can be broken off into smaller pieces into additional artifacts. A Lich must keep at least one piece of his soul with him at all times, but he may store the bulk of it faraway from his current location. If the piece he is wearing is destroyed, the lich’s body disintegrates into dust and remanifests itself wherever his complete soul is kept.
